Thom is a Principal in the firm and specializes in business planning, estate planning, and probate law. He focuses the majority of his practice on the minimization of income and estate taxes and regularly counsels his clients on wills and trusts, estate, probate and trust administration, Thom has extensive experience in estate planning for closely held business owners with a goal of minimizing estate taxes through the establishment of family limited partnerships, limited liability companies, trusts, family annuities or sales, and planning for the successful transfer of family businesses to the next generation.

Thom is one of few attorneys in Northeast Ohio to be distinguished as an Ohio State Bar Association Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate Law. He has the highest peer review rating by the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register.

Thom is a frequent guest lecturer and has spoken before the District Directors Tax Institute, the Mahoning and Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council, the American Society of Enrolled Agents, the Ohio Society of CPAs, and several local banking and financial institutions.

Thom graduated fourth in the May 1977 graduating class, receiving Juris Doctor, with Distinction, from Ohio Northern University, He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from John Carroll University in May of 1974, Thom came to the firm in 1979, after serving as an attorney officer in the legal department of National City Bank of Cleveland.

Thom is a Member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Cleveland Bar Association, and the Mahoning County Bar Association. He is a Member, and past President of, the Mahoning and Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council.

A native of Salem, Ohio, he now resides in Poland with his wife, Karen. Thom is past President of the Board of Trustees for the Youngstown YMCA; avid swimmer, cyclist and fisherman.
